(Want the sheet music?)

For the second round of Masters of Song Fu #3, I had to write a song whose lyric utilized exactly ten words.  The words could be repeated as many times as necessary, but there could only be ten of them.

The thing I like the most about this song is how neatly it side-stepped the task of figuring out an answer to the question, “What kind of a message am I going to convey with my ten words?”  Instead, I hit upon a way of simply representing (rather than actually presenting) a message or a lyric.

By utilizing the names of the parts of speech (of which there are eight -- I added “Name” and “Pronoun” to the list because I had two words to spare and they helped so much), I could suggest a lyric which I could leave to my listeners’ imaginations.  They could drift off, enjoy the music, and imagine what their own words would be, rather than being forced to listen to a specific message over and over.

Here’s the list . . .
